Welcome to the SHURI KARATE DOJO website

PLEASE NOTE THAT CURRENTLY WE ARE NOT
ACCEPTING NEW STUDENTS

Welcome to the Shuri Karate Dojo website. The Shuri Karate Dojo has been in existence in Reading, Berkshire for over 11 years teaching traditional Shito-Ryu karate. During this time we have taught many students, all ages, sizes, male and female, some physically fit and some not so fit. Whatever your personal situation we CAN help you begin your journey in to Budo with us.

At the Shuri Karate Dojo we practice a traditional style of karate called Shito-Ryu, founded by the late Okinawan karate master Kenwa Mabuni (circa 1929), run in a friendly family club atmosphere to enhance and encourage the learning process. Please note we DO NOT practice or compete in Sport Karate.

If you are sincere and commit to your training, karate will change your life for the better. We understand that the hardest step is the first one, remember we were all beginners once. So why not come along to our karate club and make that first step with us!

The pages contained within this website will provide you with information about our style of karate, what to expect when you start your training, our instructors, history and much more. We have a vast members area with everything you need to help you learn this fascinating martial art at our karate club.

Read the Frequently Asked Questions or Contact Us for further information. Parents looking for further information? Try HERE. Current special offers can be found HERE. I look forward to training with you in the future!

With thanks to Sensei A. Tanzadeh of WSKF Shito-Kai for providing much of the information for this website.

Can you imagine what it would be like if you couldn't understand speech? How would you cope? We all hope that our children will be able to talk to us, but for some children this can be a problem.

Makaton maybe the answer. Makaton uses signs and symbols to teach communication, language and literacy skills to people with communication and learning difficulties. It can also be used in the development and communication in young babies/children to get their message across (baby sign). For further information visit the Makaton website HERE.

"What is H4H all about? It's about the blokes. It's about Derri, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it's about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. It's about Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife. It is about Ben, its about Steven and Andy and Mark, its about them all. They are just blokes but they are our blokes; they are our heroes. We want to help our heroes." - Bryn Parry Appeal Chairman
